About
Sukhman Herr
I am an electrical engineering student at UBC specializing in embedded systems and power electronics. My work spans from schematic capture and PCB layout through real-time firmware and production validation.
I care about systems that are reliable in the field — not just on the bench. Whether it is diagnosing a pole-pair mismatch in a BLDC motor driver or building a cellular-fallback frost-monitoring network for a vineyard, I follow faults to their root and fix them properly.

H.B. Bro's Vineyards
- Owned design of a multi-node ESP32 frost-monitoring network — ESP-NOW low-power nodes with SHT40 temperature/humidity sensing reporting to a base station for cloud upload.
- Built a telemetry pipeline into InfluxDB Cloud with Grafana dashboards for real-time monitoring and alerting across the vineyard.
- Defined a versioned sensor packet schema (temperature, humidity, dew point, battery) enabling backward-compatible OTA updates and preventing field-device bricking.
- Integrated cellular fallback for sites without WiFi with watchdog recovery and per-node calibration; scoping a productization path toward a certified commercial product.
